I have never traveled to higher elevations before, what can I do to adjust to the altitude?
Travelers visiting from lower elevations typically feel some effects when over 5,000 feet above sea level. Those symptoms can become more acute when they go over 8,000 feet. Club Hotel, at 7,500 feet, is the perfect place to acclimate to the elevation. You may notice:
- Mild headache
- Fatigue
- Light dizziness or vertigo
- Restless sleep
This is normal and temporary. Day 1 at elevation we recommend to hydrate early and often, take a short walk around downtown Idaho Springs, and get a good night sleep that first night. Staying at the Club Hotel the night before you tackle any big activities will help you acclimate and have a better experience in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. We have many guests that tried to tackle higher elevations quickly, that stayed at the Club Hotel to relieve high-altitude symptoms. After one or two nights, they are ready to enjoy their time in the mountains. Call us for more tips.
